What it’s about: A reinvention of the 1980 Oscar-winning film, Fame follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts, a creative powerhouse where aspiring students from all walks of life are given the chance to pursue their dreams of becoming an artist – and of becoming famous.
Why it’s hot: Hollywood’s obsession with musicals continues with this, the latest singing, dancing extravaganza to hit our silver screens, except this time, the producers have traded in big names for stunning, jaw-dropping talent. A definite must-watch if you like this sort of thing.

What’s it about: After a string of ritualistic murders, Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.) and his faithful sidekick, Watson (Law), arrive just in time to save the latest victim and catch the killer: Lord Blackwood. Just before he is to hang for his crimes, however, Lord Blackwood (Strong) warns Holmes that death has no power over him and that Holmes himself will soon be an unwitting pawn in the evil that is to come. Holmes and Watson are inclined to dismiss the warning, until Lord Blackwood is apparently resurrected from the grave.
Why it’s hot: Robert Downey Jr. is completely loveable as the eccentric detective, even when he’s not being very nice at all. Jude Law is also a lot more likeable than we expected him to be, which was a nice surprise, and the easy bantering and chemistry between the pair proves one of the biggest highlights of the film. Another highlight? The action sequences. This is Sherlock Holmes like we never quite imagined.

What’s it about: Hot vamp Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Stewart) are handling their seemingly doomed relationship pretty well. One drop of blood, however, changes everything and the star-crossed lovers go their separate ways. Enter one abs-olutely hunky wolf in the form of Jacob Black (Lautner) to make Bella feel better.
Why it’s hot: It’s totally understandable why there is a Team Edward and a Team Jacob. The boy’s have certainly worked (out) hard enough to deserve the hero worship. Another of the film’s plus points is the fact that the money that went into the CGI is cash well spent. The werewolf transformations are some of the coolest scenes in the whole film.

From Roland Emmerich, the creator of The Day After Tomorrow, comes another epic flick about an inevitable global catastrophe. It is the year 2012. 20 December 2012, to be exact. The ancient Mayans always believed that the world would end when that day arrived and in this film, they’re right. 2012 follows the journey of several individuals who fight tooth and nail for their survival as the world around them comes crumbling down in the most spectacular fashion.
