A ride on the wild side

brana February 9, 2012

Cast: Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, Tom Hiddleston

Director: Steven Spielberg

What’s it about: War Horse is a tale about the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man, Albert, set against rural England and Europe during the First World War.

Why it’s hot: It’s been a while since a film like this has been made and like many well-loved Spielberg films, this one will tug at your heartstrings. War Horse is beautifully shot. But more importantly, it’s got a big heart.

Why it’s not: There’s really not much to complain about here. If you hate sweeping epics, then this probably isn’t your cup of tea. But then again, it’s such a well-made film that it might change your mind!

Verdict: A must-watch if you adore Steven Spielberg’s films. This is the man at his best. This touching film captures loyalty and friendship really well, so be sure to bring heaps of Kleenex. All we can say is, it’s a pleasure to have you back, Steven Spielberg.
