In a nutshell: The dysfunctional characters from hit TV series Glee get together this holiday season to churn out a few happy tunes and merry melodies.
High notes: Say what you like about the show, the cast can sing circles around even the best of them. Lea Michele a.k.a drama queen Rachel Berry is every bit the heavenly angel on ‘River’ while Amber Riley and Naya Rivera (better known to Gleeks as Mercedes and Santana) get well-deserved solos on ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ and ‘Santa Baby’ respectively. Even the kids discovered on The Glee Project – Lindsay Pearce, Alex Newell, Damian McGinty and Samuel Larsen – put up a good showing.
Low notes: If you’re one of those disbelievers who thinks Christmas is just an occasion that gives grandma an excuse to get rid of her ugliest sweaters by handing them off to you, you have no business even touching to this album. Step away slowly and don’t trip on any of the presents on your way out.
Verdict: Glee may be having a somewhat of an off-season by their high standards but the music is still fabulous. If you’re looking for Christmas songs with a twist, this is the album for you. It’ll get you all warm and fuzzy in an instant and we can’t think of a better soundtrack for the holidays.
